Modding JOpenSimRegister a bit

5 years 11 months ago #3103 by logansryche
greets everyone, very cool that such a project is still around. I'm curious though if it's possible to modify this so that users that register don't have to create a joomla account but rather a straight forward account for my grid, and to set up a redirect to a thank you page or back to the homepage. I don't expect exact clauses as I can figure out most stuff, just the files i should be editing should suffice.

Thanks everyone, Logan

Hi logan

and welcome to jOpenSim :)

The thing is that data for other features (such as profile, groups, etc.) is stored in the Joomla database and thatfor jOpenSim needs a user record in this DB as well to know to what OpenSim user it belongs to. So creating the OpenSim account only and no Joomla account is only half way for jOpenSim ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome, I appreciate it and that makes sense. Where is that file to edit? I still have registrants who put their real name instead of their avatar name in the Name spot(my instance of opensim relies on that more then the other boxes).

You could e.g. change the language variables for them to clarify a little better.

In case you use english, you find them in your joomla root in ./administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_user_jopensimregister.ini

But I recommend NOT to change the values directly in there since they would be overwritten with the next update.

In such case it would be better to create overrides for them (find it in your admin in Extensions -> Language(s) -> Overrides). That way you can safely update without loosing your changes.
