php 5.4 Support?

I am going to have to roll my servers out to the new version of ubuntu soon, as the LTS is reaching end of it's life soon. So I am wonder if it all runs properly in php 5.4 so i don't have to do crazy back porting.

For my part, I develop jOpenSim on PHP 5.3.15 and jopensim.com runs with 5.3.8 ... I have not tested anything on 5.4.x yet, but as far as I know there is no major function change or anything similar between those 2 versions.

Hi,
first of all I need to say great site and great package for opensim (if I could get it to work)

I've setup a fresh joomla installation on my localhost and installed the jopensim.0.2.7 package. My local dev server runs on php 5.4.3 and I'm getting a heap of errors when I browse to the jopensim component on the joomla administration.

I'm not sure if the problem is caused by php 5.4 but would appreciate any advice and didn't find any other topic that seemed to match any better.

What version of Joomla did you install? jOpenSim is currently only compatible with Joomla 2.5.x

I did a fresh install of joomla v2.5.11, no demo content. So basically just the plain cms and right after that the full packageof jopensim.

thanks for the offer. Was there earlier today but didn't mee anyone. 2:30am here.. off to bed but I would take any help I can get to get the opensim / jopensim integration working

The messages in your screenshot are purely strict standard messages. You can reassuring disable those messages in your php configuration. They only should be enabled on a development enviroment anyway.

For your info: strict standard messages are introduced in php 5.0.0 and should help programmers more or less to get their code ready for futuring php versions (6.x). You can disable them in your php.ini by changing the error_reporting variables (see here for more information) or in your vhost definition by adding e.g.which will show everything except strict messages.

Note: it is also highly recommended to disable the displaying of error messages on production servers.

Since I also installed other components on my dev server which cause strict standard messages, I had those messages disabled and didnt realize, that my own code also causes some of them but I will try to get rid of them in a futuring release

Thanks Foto!
I disabled the php module and I was finally able to configure jopensim doesn't show the php errors any more and was able to connect to my local grid.

However, I'm having numerous other issues for which I will create a new thread.
