In-world terminal for SL

Hi.

Great work as ever. Just catching up with all the latest developments.

I was looking at the account activation script/terminal and initially I thought it would allow users to create accounts if they were in any grid, including Second-Life. On reading further it seems that you can't.

Is it possible for a SL user to create an account in the same name as they have in SL for OpenSim/Joomla by using this script or something similar. I want to encourage some SL group users to start using OS but need to make the process simple.

I'm not sure if I understand you right: you want to place a terminal somewhere in SL that would create an account in your OpenSim grid of specific users clicking something on it with their exact same name? What about the password? I would not feel well typing my SL password to some script

Besides of that this would be not impossible but also not easy to do, I have some worries what Linden is thinking about that ... taking away their few left users in such an easy way *g*

On the other side, SL users still will have to get either another viewer and add the connection to it or change some startup parameters of their existing one to switch over to your virtual world. So either way it will be more than just a 1-click issue for them ...

On that topic what about a terminal script for SL that will be used as a verification of the Avie if they want to use their same avie name. It would help sort out people who register as a popular person in SL and they are not the actual person. I know some wifi modules have that module. How it would work is.

1. They create an account on the grid website
2. They go to a Terminal location in SL and click on the terminal and verifies it is them.
3. They can now go and log into the site.
