Jopensim and firewall...

12 years 1 month ago #1679 by tadavis
Hi I just changed my internet connection... And had to setup a Ubuntu server as my router.. I am using the same server for the web server as I am using as the router.. I can use my website and all the functions on the website with the exception of Map.. I also do not have profiles and groups in-world.. I know that it is a firewall problem wondering if I am missing any ports that need to be opened besides port 80? I can access profiles and group via the website.. but again unable to get communication with webserver for groups and profiles in world..

Thanks
Todd

Hi Todd

For profiles and groups, port 80 should be fine. jOpenSim is communicating via xmlrpc on it. For the maps you need to open the network port (most of time 9000). If this does not work, try to open additionally the ports of the regions.

Hmm.. well... A quick setup thing so I can give you an idea of what is going on.. As I thought port 80 should be open..

Port 8002 Ports 9000-9099 Ports 9100-9399

SO I have opened ports 8002, 9000-9099, 9100-9399 and of course opened for everything from internal network out..
I have tried to open port 80 to loopback/127.0.0.1 on the webserver..

I get the error about xmlrpc.. for groups and not sure what error fro profiles..
I know this is a lot to ask from you.. This is more of a iptable/Ubuntu routing question. but perhaps you have some insight into dealing with xmlrpc, Joomla, Jopensim and firewall..

ANy suggestion would be helpful..

Thanks
Todd
